Eco-Conscious Brands
Before I started this blog, I didn’t want it to be about the stereotypical perspective of a glamourous industry. I wanted my blog to have meaning behind it and continue to be conscious towards a changing world, and in fact a changing fashion industry. If it’s one thing this pandemic has taught us, it was to slow down, and that applied to fashion as well.
Environmental issues, social impacts and climate change are not words one would associate with the fashion industry, right? But they are.
It’s time to make an impact on how we shop and stop treating clothes as if it is disposable.
Sustainability is a topic that I hold very close to my heart. Those who know me, know that I am an advocate for recycling and I detest single use plastic.
Over the years I have become more environmentally conscious, and with that I am also fashion conscious.
It is important that we curb our carbon footprint on how we shop. By shopping sustainably and buying with the intent that the item will last decades by investing in timeless, transitional pieces.
While both luxury and high street brands are moving toward a more sustainable and ethical future.

Tips on Shopping Sustainably:
One & Done: Investing in staple timeless pieces that seamlessly work all year round.
Discover Vintage: Vintage clothing is usually made of very high-quality materials therefore it lasts a lifetime! (you just have to know where to look).
Choose Natural Fabrics: Natural meaning materials that come from planlike wool, organic cotton, linen, or even hemp. Avoid synthetic materials at all costs. Not only is it bad for the environment, synthetic materials like polyester, acrylic, spandex and acetate are dangerous to your health causing skin rashes, nausea, headaches & more.
Upcycle or Recycle Fabrics: In a previous blog post " Well Being is Well Dressed" I mentioned taking something you haven’t worn for years and use the fabrics, pockets, zips, and buttons to create something new, that’s upcycling! Find brands like Rothy’s who uses Econyl regenerated nylon to make its products from recycled plastic water bottles.
Custom Made: Knowing that something was handmade especially for you gives your clothing more meaning, that you can pass down to another generation.
