Head In The Clouds

Pandemic Edition

During the lockdown period, we dreamed of our next holiday, now that the world has eased back into traveling and countries are opening its borders, we finally have the option to travel again. As we know, Air Travel is making a comeback, but it’s not going to be the same. You really have to consider all the factors before booking your next holiday. I have put together a little travel guide after my own experience of traveling during a pandemic.

Before Booking Your Trip

Check Your Credentials

Not only do you have to double check the validity of your passport and

visas (if required).

Airlines and the destination you are traveling to may have mandatory requirements to health documentation upon arrival into that country.

Do Your Home Work

Regulations change regularly. Stay ahead with changing testing and vaccination requirements for international travel.

When planning a trip, double check what is needed as your travel date approaches as some countries require proof of a negative COVID test or proof of being fully vaccinated before your arrival.

Before Your Flight

In Flight Essentials

If you are traveling to a country where the wearing of face masks is not mandatory anymore, it is STILL mandatory at the airports and in flight. It's always good to pack extra masks incase the one you are wearing bursts or gets dirty.

Antibacterial wipes are my go-to! Even though airlines are sanitizing in between flights, the area where you are sitting can never be too clean. And of course, always have your hand sanitizers and face shields if you are comfortable with wearing one over your face mask.

Carry On Essentials

Planes are a bit chilly, always have either a sweatshirt, shawl or cardigan in your bag as airplane blankets are a no-no even before the pandemic.

Some airlines have started back its onboard food and beverage services. However, I would recommend bringing your own, in case of delays or any disruptions at the airport.

In Case of Emergency

Keep theses items in your bag in case of an emergency. Travel sized: deodorant, hand cream, face wash, toothpaste & toothbrush, lip balm, an extra underwear and a spare t-shirt.

You never know what kind of situation you may run into, keep it light and essential.

Airport Outfit

Okay, so you’ve booked the trip, great! Now let’s talk about the airport outfit. An aesthetically pleasing airport look that became a thing in the rise of social media, but is it still a thing?

For a stress-free airport style think easy, comfortable outfit combinations.

Traveling as we know it to be is not the same, so it's super important to be comfortable. In these unprecedented times you never know if your flight will be delayed or if you’re stuck on the plane due to situations beyond your control, so dress smart.

Note that comfortable doesn’t mean boring, but you should avoid:

- Heels

- Easily Wrinkled Fabrics

- Stiff & itchy fabrics like polyester

Skincare on Board

Hydrate, Hydrate Hydrate!

When it comes to make up and skin care go to my previous post MASKNE to see what you can do for your skin before and after a flight.

At The Airport

The airport is a tough place to avoid crowds. The only thing I can recommend would be to check in online, get to the airport earlier than expected in trying to avoid long lines that way you try your best to socially distance yourself from others.

Even though the airports are bustling again, the reality is that the pandemic is not behind us. Remember to practice your 3 W’s (Wear a mask, Wash your hands and Watch your distance), travel comfortably and look forward to your vacation because you deserve it!
